The 43rd global WorldSkills event took place in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in August. The competition was the largest so far, attracting more than 1,180 young skills champions from 59 countries who competed against other national winners in 50 different skill contests.
3M is one of 10 Global Industry Partners for WorldSkills and 3M subsidiaries across the globe gave their national teams the best chance of winning by providing them with training and support as well as products such as abrasives, masking tapes, paint application and finishing systems and personal protective equipment.
Rebecca, aged 22 and from Northern Ireland, was selected to represent the UK in car painting. She was invited to 3M's Automotive Refinishing Centre in Atherstone, Warwickshire, for final training where she picked up tips from Application Engineering specialists Gary Brotherton and Steve Hollowell.
