Prime Time Product
3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Structural Adhesives Primer EC-3909 is a compatible primer for Scotch-Weld™ Film Adhesives in applications where improved adhesion to anodized aluminum is desired. This product provides optimal shear and peel performance on etched and anodized surfaces. It can be co-cured with heat curing film or 1-part paste adhesives, and is especially designed for use with the AF 163-2, AF 3109-2 and AF 126 film adhesives.
EC-3909 can be applied by brush or spray and ensures complete wetting of film adhesives to adherend surfaces. This primer can help simplify production scheduling by protecting the cleaned surfaces until bonding operations can be completed. It also protects surface treated metals, resulting in a diminished rate of natural re-oxidation and excellent environmental performance.
Primed for Take-Off
In general, 3M Scotch-Weld™ structural adhesive primers complement the Scotch Weld™ Structural Adhesives portfolio and can be used to protect prepared substrates to be bonded. They facilitate "wet-out" of the primary adhesive agent to facilitate the bond between substrate and coating extrudate, and then are cured to enhance chemical resistance. Our adhesive primers help prepare the surfaces for the bonding agents and improve the conditions so that the adhesives are more effective and create stronger, longer lasting bonds.
