"A plasterer's job is very diverse in Sweden, which makes it so special to me, because I learn many related skills. It brings me a lot of joy, which I think is most important. I always wanted to make money doing something I like."

Today's EuroSkills™ candidate is Kasper from team Sweden, a 21 year old plasterer who can't wait to prove his talent this December! After winning the Swedish national competition, Kasper traveled to Sao Paulo to participate at the WorldSkills™ 2015 competition and is now excited to be part of another skills event. He told us that as a kid, Kasper already wanted to build tree houses and help his brother and dad when doing handiwork at home. No wonder that today he is one of Sweden's most talented plasterers.
"It took me a couple of weeks to find a mentor, whom I believed to improve my skills and inspire me to strive for more. When you participate in a competition you want to make sure that you've had as much practice as possible and my mentor gives me the necessary support - he's really good."
As plastering and drywalling is a very complex skill, Kasper had to find a mentor who is familiar with skills like stucco and plastering, which are expected at EuroSkills 2016. Luckily, Kasper found a mentor who now trains him up to eight hours a week.
"I would like to show all the kids and young adults that you can make something great and big with your life if you are doing what you like."
As EuroSkills 2016 is coming closer, Kasper from team Sweden is mostly curious to watch and learn from his competitors. Being both a WorldSkills and EuroSkills candidate is a reward for Kasper and a confirmation that he is exceptionally skilled in his profession. Having the opportunity to meet people with the same interests from many different countries and compare the work-processes among nationalities is the biggest benefit for Kasper as he has worked in Australia for a while and plans on continuing to work abroad.
