Railtex is the industry’s showcase for technological innovations covering all aspects of infrastructure and rolling stock and this year takes place at the NEC in Birmingham from 9-11 May.
3M has a raft of innovative solutions that can help with key challenges facing the rail industry, such as increasing productivity, improving energy efficiency, prolonging the life of assets, enhancing the passenger experience and improving worker safety, and these will be demonstrated at the event.
The 3M stand brings together technical experts from a number of businesses, including Industrial Adhesives and Tapes, Abrasives Systems, Personal Safety, Commercial Solutions, Electrical Markets and Automotive Aftermarket.
Throughout the three-day event, there will be keynote speeches, seminars and discussion forums highlighing industry trends. 3M senior technical specialist, Dr Antonio Pagliuca, will be hosting a seminar on 10 May. In this, he will explain how adhesive bonding can be used to increase design options and product performance for rail assembly and construction applications.
First staged in 1993, Railtex has long been established as Britain’s leading showcase for railway equipment, products and services and attracts managers, engineers and buyers from the industry.
Said 3M strategic planning manager, Vikki Randles: “Britain’s rail network is seeing unprecedented levels of investment, with the HS2 high-speed line, Crossrail and the extensive upgrading of existing systems all generating business opportunities throughout the supply chain.
“As well as a chance to demonstrate the total range of 3M solutions for the industry – which range from abrasives to cut and finish surfaces quicker, lightweighting materials, solar films to reduce heat gain and save energy, liquid coatings to protect infrastructure from corroding, anti-graffiti films to keep trains looking smart and comfortable personal protective equipment – the event is a great networking opportunity for us.
“We have 46 technology platforms available to us at 3M and love using these to solve problems for our customers and are looking forward to making new connections at Railtex.”
The 3M stand T35 can be found next to the Seminar Theatre and all visitors to the stand will be entered into a daily prize draw to win £100 of holiday vouchers.
