Waiting to cross

How long should I wait to cross?

When you're at a pedestrian crossing, wait until the cars have stopped and/or the Green Man shows. But if you are not at a pedestrian crossing, you should wait until you know it is safe to cross the road without running.

You should WALK NOT RUN across a road because if you run, you are more likely to fall over and then it might take longer for you to get up than for a car to stop.
