Generating electricity

Fossil fuels are reliable and relatively cheap sources of energy that contain very large amounts of concentrated energy. They are very useful but the products produced when they are burnt can pollute the atmosphere. The carbon dioxide released when fossil fuels burn is thought to be causing global warming and changing the environment.
